Calvary Baptist Church will be 100 years old on the first Sunday in July, 2008. To celebrate, we have planned four special Sundays. During the month of July, worship will begin at 10:30 A.M. and end at 12:00. There will be no Sunday School for the month. There will be a children's church offered on the first three Sundays during worship.
July 6th will include a special message from the pastor, a short video of the beginnings of Calvary Baptist Church, The Lord's Supper celebration, followed by a dinner-on-the-ground potluck lunch in the student center.
On July 13th, our guest speaker is Dr. Ken Hemphill who now serves as the National Strategist for Empowering Kingdom Growth for the Southern Baptist Convention. Dr. Hemphill served as the President of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary from 1994 to 2003.
On July 20th, our special guest is Dr. Robert Smith, professor of Christian Preaching at Beeson Divinity School of Samford University in Birmingham. Dr. Smith has written the book, Doctrine That Dances: Bringing Doctrinal Preaching and Teaching to Life. One of the outstanding preachers in America, Dr. Smith should not be missed.
On July 27th, one of the great Christian vocalists in America, Charles Billingsley will be our guest. Charles is the worship leader of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia and the Director of the Worship Institute at Liberty University. We look forward to this Sunday concert of praise and worship.
These four special Sundays will kick off our next 100 hundred years of ministry. Our prayer is that we would be willing servants to be whatever God wants Calvary Baptist Church to be. God has richly blessed us. Praise be to God.
