The Calvary AWANA's celebrated the end of the school year with the annual Parent's Night AWANA Awards on Wednesday night, May 13th. AWANA stands for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed" from 2 Timothy 2:15. AWANA Club ministry is for children 3 years old through 5th grade. They study, play and compete in three age divisions: Cubbies, K3 - K4; Sparks, K5 - 2nd Grade; and T&T, 3rd Grade - 5th Grade.
Each clubber has the opportunity to earn exciting awards. These awards can be worn on the uniform. Ribbons, plaques and trophies are also given for completion of one or more completed years of handbook work.
Each child is allowed to work at his/her own pace and will be guided and helped by a caring leader. To complete a handbook in one year, children should have two or three sections/units ready when attending club each night.
Parents can keep up with what is going on in Awana by logging on to our teritory web site for upcoming events at www.southernpinelandsawana.org. Other information can be found at www.awana.org.
Parents are always welcome at club meetings. The director, Larry Hall, and AWANA leaders are always ready to talk to parents about special concerns.
One of the very special AWANA awards and requires a lot of work is the Timothy award. This award is for those who have completed all four third- through 6th-grade handbooks or studies, including all associated activities. This year Calvary gave Timothy awards to: Corine Embola and Joseph Struecker. This is the second year in a row that Calvary has awarded two Timothy awards.
