The March 2007 tornado destroyed the building housing our Columbus Christian Counseling Center. Beyond repair, the old building was torn down and a new one has been erected in its place. The new building is quite different in appearance but sits on the same site as the old. The only thing reused is the parking lot.

The old building became the first permanent home of the counseling center in 1996. During the demolition and rebuilding phase, counselors used temporary offices in the Mission House next door. Michael Martin and Floyd Sanders are excited about returning to a building designed to provide spaces needed to conduct private and group counseling. The new building has four offices, a reception/waiting room, a group counseling room, bathroom, and file room.

Pastor Don Wilhite has been a long time proponent of the value of good Christian counseling. He continually reminds the church family of this valuable resource and encourages them to take advantage of it. Dr. Otis Ponds, the first director of counseling began the work in 1994. After 14 years of operation, the rebuilding of the center is evidence of Calvary's continued commitment to providing counseling assistance for the Columbus community.
