Choir Prepares for Christmas Music

Church choirs are preparing a Christmas musical to present on Sunday, December 14th at 10:30. The title of this musical is The Name Jesus. The musical creator, Mike Speck, writes this.
"I believe the name Jesus is a lightning rod. There is power in the name of Jesus, and it is intimidating and convicting. It divides good and evil . . . right and wrong. Have you ever considered why His name would be used as a curse word, when there is no other religious figure invoked in such a way? His name was given to Him by God Himself, and it's offensive to many, even though they don't know why. The original Aramaic name for Jesus is Yeshua. It is actually translated "salvation." Ther very word Christmas creates an issue . . . for the word Christmas contains the title "Christ," which literally means "Messiah." . . . The songs and narration contained in this Christmas project are my loving attempt to make known what I believe is the only hope humanity has . . . the name - Jesus."

The adult choir is practicing on Wednesday nights at 7 P.M. The children's choir and the youth choir will join the adult choir for this special Christmas music celebration. Beginning Oct 5th, the youth choir will meet at 5:15 on Sunday afternoons with Mark Helms and the children's choir will meet at the same time with Martha Aguirre. Persons interested in joining one of these choirs are invited to contact the Minister of Worship, Mark Helms, at 706-322-1491
